Social Media Series of 3 Ads
This is a continuation of my last project, Portraits With Purpose. The goal was to take the portraits and come up with a social media ad concept. In my Portraits With Purpose project, I only talked about parents/family of youth baseball and softball, but I decided I wanted to focus on ALL sports parents/family. Town of Knightdale offers many other youth sports leagues and I want parents/family to check out all of them, not just baseball and softball.

I switched out one of my portraits because I wanted to get a variety of family members (Mom, Dad, Gma) I also made some additional adjustments to bring out more pops of color. These are the final portraits I ended up with:

To get my thought process going for my ad series, I drew out some sketches.
I don't mind sketching, but once I start to get an idea I really like, I have to jump onto the computer and start visualizing it. If I let the moment pass, the idea gets away from me, and it's gone.

Since my ads were for Town of Knightdale, I wanted to try and get inspiration from their existing branding. This is their logo:
I really liked the idea of the triangles and the different colors of the triangles. I used that as the inspiration for the background for my ads.
Then, for the large text (Mom, Dad, Gma) I used a copy of the portrait as a clipping mask on top of the text layer.  I had to enlarge the portrait quite a bit to get the part I wanted to fit over the text.

Last, I added the logo, text, and call to action. I coordinated the stroke color on the call to action rectangle with the triangle color used in the background (under the black opaque layer). Here's the final product:
